How to identify if your vehicle has the KDSS systemUpdated 3 months ago

The quickest way to confirm KDSS is to inspect the front end on the driver’s side and look for the KDSS-specific hardware around the stabilizer (sway) bar.

Step-by-step check (easy driveway inspection)

  1. Look under the front end on the left side (driver’s side).

  2. Locate the stabilizer bar and pay attention to the shape of the bracket. KDSS-equipped vehicles use a distinct bracket setup compared to non-KDSS trucks.

  3. Confirm the hydraulic support is present. If you see the hydraulic support/linked hardware integrated into that stabilizer-bar area, that’s a strong indicator your vehicle has KDSS.

Why this matters for suspension installs (OME note)

If your vehicle has KDSS and you’re running (or planning to run) an Old Man Emu suspension, an added step may be required: installing one Trim Packer (OME95PF5) on the passenger-side front shock.

And if you’re installing OME BP-51, make sure you’re using the correct coilover and fitting kit for your configuration (the guidance also notes differences depending on whether the truck is set up with a winch vs. stock front weight).
